Time is running out - act now if you paid your

deposit by credit card.

It was in late 1996 and early 1997 that the DTI became involved in closing down companies selling whisky, champagne cognac and rum as an investment. Under the Limitations Act you have 6 years to bring a claim against your credit card company if you paid the deposit by credit card. After that your claim is statute barred and the credit card company are under no obligation to refund you.

So act fast and check those payments you made to Hamilton, Napier, Marshalls and all those other scam companies NOW. Remember all the credit card companies are paying out in full even where you paid the balance by cheque. They will either give you a full cash refund and take over ownership of the cask or pay you the difference between the present value and the amount you paid. Even better one or two are paying out in full and making you keep the cask since they don't want the hassle of transferring ownership and then having to sell the cask.

Many investors bought in 1993 and 1994 and even though they bought over 7 years ago their claims are still valid since time only runs from when the fraud was discovered.

Ring me on 01539-729580 if you think you may have a claim. It will soon be too late if you leave it.

Keeping the Helpline going costs money and takes time. I am still receiving many telephone calls, letters and emails from people who have only just heard about the scam. Others phone to see what they can do with their whisky, for advice on credit card claims, for information on bottling costs and duty and generally to find out what is going on. Joanna and I are available to try and answer any queries you have Mondays to Fridays between 9am and 5pm on 01539-729580.
